27th State Children Science Congress 2019 organized at UCOST, Vigyan Dham, Dehradun on 7th Dec , 2019

As many as 146 child scientists from 95 block of 13 district of Uttarakhand took part in the 27th State Children Science Congress – 2019 that was held at UCOST, Vigyan Dham campus on 7th Dec, 2019. Inaugurating the congress UCOST’s Director General Dr Rajendra Dobhal said the Science Congress founded platform to children to showcase their talent in Science from block to state and attending at national level. He exhorted the children to avail the Science Congress platform without any hesitation. He said such events hold much significance in developing scientific temper within children. Dr Dobhal also disclosed that UCOST is conducting several programs for popularization of science in the state. ‘Science Technology and Innovation for a clean, green and healthy nation’ was the focal theme of the 27th State Children Science Congress – 2019, which was jointly organized by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India; Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology and Society of Pollution and Environmental Conservation Scientists (SPECS), Dehradun.

A total of 16 child scientist were selected at the congress, who will now be representing the state in the 27th National Children Science Congress- 2019 held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala from 27 to 31 December, 2019.  A total of five sub theme were taken up in the congress that included Ecosystem and Ecosystem Services; Waste to wealth; Society, Culture and Livelihoods; Health, Hygiene and Sanitation; Traditional Knowledge System. Among the 146 child scientists that took part in various theme included 91 female students. Three child scientists were selected in each theme. Among the evaluators, who selected the students included Dr Manmohan Singh Rawat, Dr K.N. Bhardwaj, Manoj Kanyal, Dr G.K. Dhingra, Dr Shambhu Nautiyal, DrAjit Kaur, Dr Parul Singhal, Dr Poonam Gusain, Ramdev Ghuniyal, Himanshu Goyal, Dr Priyanda Tyagi, Dr Prabhakar Semwal, Kanchan Dobhal.

Later at the valedictory session, the journal comprising of abstract of research done by child scientists in the last Science Congress-2018 was released. According vote of thanks, Dr Brijmohan Sharma, Secretary, SPECS congratulated the child scientist, who have been selected for 27th State Children Science Congress – 2019 held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala from 27 to 31 December, 2019. Dr D.P. Uniyal coordinate for 27thState Children Science Congress – 2019 and Dr Jagbir Singh Aswal and Vikas Nautiyal co-coordinate were also present.
