A Popular lecture on Alpine ecosystem and climate change was delivered by a Prof. Juha M . Alatalo, Qatar University, Qatar on 10th April, 2018 at Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology VigyanDham, Jhajra. He explained in his presentation about fertile and nutrient poor ecosystems. He elaborated on the links between above and below ground diversity. In his 20 years of experimenting at Latnjajajure field station, he understood the importance and need of coordinated experiment. Emphasis on climate change and its impact on above and below ground biodiversity and their multifunctionality was discussed in detail by him. He summarized the session by explaining species richness and their correlation with other abiotic factors. Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Director General, Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology gave a concluding remarks.. The session was coordinated by Dr. D. P. Uniyal, Sr. Scientific Officer UCOST.
