Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology (UCOST) and National Academy of Sciences India (NASI) Jointly organized a two day workshop on “Science & Technology for Rural Economy in Mountain Ecosystem”.
Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Director General, UCOST welcome young & eminent scientists from State and Country at Vigyan Dham. Specially emphasizing to youth he said that they should focus on research and writing. He said that young people should go for startup and give their career a new recognition.
Padmavibushan Prof. Manju Sharma, Former Secretary, Biotechology, Govt. of India, New Delhi focused on rural economy and told that the main objective to organize the workshop is mainly for researchers, scientists, NGO’s. Small industrialists, businessmen living in mountains can mingle latest scientific and traditional knowledge to create different things. With help of these workshops countries eminent scientist can conclude and through their lecture they can teach young scientist how to achieve good self employment specially in mountains . Prof. Sharma told in near future they will organize such types of workshops with collaboration with UCOST in different places of Uttarakhand and congratulate NASI Uttarakhand Chapter and UCOST for their work.
Keynote speaker Prof. LMS Palani, Former Director, GB Pant Himalyan Institute spoke on “Science & Technology for Rural Economy in Mountain Ecosystem”. He told about Himalyas its Natural Resources and Eco- system and told young scientist with latest techniques about Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and how to produce more in less time. He also told about the Govt. schemes which are beneficial.
Prof. A.N. Prohit, Former, VC, HNB Garhwal University President NASI UA Chapter welcomed and thanks to all the participants. Dr. D.P. Uniyal was the convener of the workshop, more than 150 participants were there.
First technical session was chaired by Prof. A.N. Purohit,Former, VC, HNB Garhwal University the title of the session was “Bioresources and Biodiversity Technological Inverventions” Dr. S.PS. Khanuja, Former Director, CIMAP and Dr. Shashibala Singh, Dirctor, DIPAS, New Delhi were the key note speakers.
All the staff of UCOST was present in the workshop.
