Dr. Rajendra Dobhal to head sustainable development forum

Former bureaucrats, scientists, agriculturists and other technocrats have joined hands for setting up of a sustainable development forum (SDP) and boost environment friendly.

Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Director General, UCOST Dehradun will be chairman of the forum while senior forest officer STS Lepcha will be vice chairman. Krishan Singh Rautela, a technocrat, will be treasurer where as Binita Shah, an organic farming expert will be the secretary of the forum.

The forum will work on issues such as water, climate change, livelihood, energy. Himalayan ecosystems, and any other issues related to the importance to mountain regions. It will work towards enriching the lives of the people by impacting policy changes from the prespective of the mountain people. The forum will also help in providing a platform for networking, sharing and bringing issues of mountains at the national level for the benefit of all stakeholders.

Former chief secretaries RS Tolia, NS Napalchyal, Ravishankar, former Principal Secretary Vibha Puri Das, finance commission chairman Prof BK Joshi will be the advisers to the forum.

β€œThe initiative will help in the development of the state and improving its socio-economic condition.” Binita Said.
