Four-day webinar on Intellectual Property concluded

Four-day webinar on the topic “Intellectual Property Rights: Fundamental and Its Importance in Present Context” jointly organized by Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology (UCOST); Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC), Government of India and NASI Uttarakhand Chapter concluded today.
Distinguished guests on the occasion was Dr Pradeep Srivastava, Executive Director of TIFAC New Delhi, while invited speaker were Dr Yashwant Dev Panwar, Scientist-F TIFAC; and Dr TC James. Dr Rajendra Dobhal, Director General, UCOST also addressed the participants and moderated the program. Dr Panwar discussed about the patent databases available on the Internet to check the novelty of the research work. He also shared achievements of the TIFAC. Dr TC James spoke about Geographical Indications and traditional knowledge. He also discussed Appan, Bhulli Art, Bal Mithai, and Singuri as potential Geographical Indications in Uttarakhand. Experts also gave answers to the questions raised by the participants. At the end of the program, Dr. Dobhal delivered vote of thanks to all the guests, lead speakers and participants. During the webinar, Prof Harvinder Singh Chawla of GB Pant University Pantnagar, Prof Veena Pandey of Kumaon University, Dr. Madhu Thapliyal, Dr. GK Dhingra, and UCOST officials Dr. Ashutosh Mishra, Mr. Amit Pokhriyal, along with 115 participants were present.
