State Level Children Science Congress-2018 organized at UCOST Dehradun
State Level Children Science Congress – 26th State Level Children Science Congress-2018 on focal theme, “Science, Technology & Innovation for a Clean, Green and Healthy Nation” was organized at Vigyan Dham on 15th December. Inaugural and Valedictory sessions at RSC Dehradun, while technical sessions were organized at UCOST headquarters. A total of 144 students (94 girls & 50 boys) belonging to 95 blocks of all the 13 districts and their escort teachers participated in the congress. Students presented their projects on 5 sub-themes, i.e., Society, Culture & Livelihood; Ecosystem & Ecosystem Services; Waste to Wealth; Health, Hygiene & Sanitation; and Traditional Knowledge System.
Participants were also facilitated with visit of galleries, science film shows and an interactive lecture “Homeostasis of Mother Earth” at the center. A special session on “Yog” by Yog guru Dr Amritraj was also organized during Inaugural Session. A total of 16 selected students will participate in National Children Science Congress at Bhuvneshwar (Odisha) from 27-31 December 2018. The congress was supported by Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology (UCOST), Vigyan Prasar, DST, Gov of India and Society for Pollution & Environmental Conservation Scientists (SPECS).
