Stronger Intellectual Property Rights will be needed to promote Technology Transfer, FDI, and Industrial Development to fulfill the dream of “Make in India” – Dr. Rajendra Dobhal

 

A one day Workshop was organized by the PHD chamber of commerce at Hotel Madhuban on Jan 24, 2017. Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Director General, UCOST was the guest of honour at the IPR workshop. The workshop was organised to create awareness regarding IPR among the micro, small and medium enterprises. The workshop was inaugurated by Mrs. Manisha Panwar (IAS), Principal Secretary, MSME Govt of Uttarakhand.

In his inaugural speech Dr. Dobhal gave a brief overview of WTO, TRIPS and relevance of IPR in Indian context. He further informed the audience what different kinds of IPR are, how to recognize them and IPR as important tools for MSME in promotion of business.

Principal Secretary MSME Manisha Panwar said that IPR spurs innovation and the need for policy interventions at state level for promotion of IPR and creation of an enabling environment for industry.

Dr. Anju Rawat, Scientist-B, PIC, UCOST gave an overview of IPR to the participants and explained what are patents, industrial designs, trademarks, trade secrets, geographical indications and plant varieties. She also explained about the various incentives provided by the govt to MSME for filing IPR.
