Mathematical and statistical techniques play pivotal role in shaping the economic growth of country in several sectors like IT, finance, banking, manufacturing, aviation etc. In order to equip the youth from institutes of higher learning with the required knowledge of sophisticated techniques and to expose them to fresh and innovation ideas in some core areas of mathematics education, three Summer Schools have been organized. Participants of under graduate and post graduate classes from various universities and colleges were selected for three summer schools. The schools helped the young minds to acquire a sound insight of important areas of mathematics education and trained them to venture in understanding and solving intricate problems in the subject. Moreover, talents in Mathematics from Uttarakhand and adjoining areas were also spotted. The summer schools and workshops in Mathematics have now become regular academic events in the calendar of activities of UCOST to promote and upgrade the standard of Mathematics among students and faculty of Uttarakhand.
