Dr D.P. Uniyal, Joint Director UCOST delivered lecture on Role of Indigenous Foodin Health & Disease organized by AIIMS Rishikesh on Sep 01, 2020.

Indigenous Foodin Health & Disease – Dr D.P. Uniyal, Joint Director UCOST delivered lecture on Role of Indigenous Food in Health & Disease: A Perspective from Uttarakhand”in a webinar organized by AIIMS Rihsikesh on the occasion of Nutrition Week. He emphasized on exploration of scientific evidences for indigenous food items and their role in nutrition for helath promiotion and in clinical nutrition. He also briefed on fermented foods and beverages, and nutri-Cereals such as Manduaa, Koda, Jhandora Kutki, Cheena, Kuttu, Ramdana and Phafar. He also spoke on efforts done by the UCOST on enhancing livelihood of Himalayan communities through action research and transforming wild produces into high value products. He shed light on policy issues on consumer’s right for safe and nutritious food.

Padmshri Prof Ravikant, Director AIIMS Rishikesh; Prof BP Nautiyal, Director, Institute of Medical & Aromatic Plants; Dr Sarita Srivastava, Head, GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technology and Dr Laxmaiah,National Institute of Nutrition Hyderabad also delivered lecture.
