A Project Review Meeting of project titled “E-Waste Management in Dehradun and Rudraprayag-Realizing the E-Waste to Resource Potential” was held on 13th April, 2022 at Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST), Vigyan Dham, Jhajra under the chairmanship of Dr Rajendra Dobhal, Director General, UCOST, Dehradun to discuss the project progress activities carried out byDr. Brij Mohan Sharma, Secretary SPECS, Dehradun and Dr Shewtank Arya, Ass. Professor, Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar. Dr. Shwetank Arya and his team member Mr. Amrish, Research Scholar, Gurukul Kangiri University, Haridwar has given a detailed presentation on the progress of e-waste mobile app for selling, buying and repairing of electronic waste products.Following decisions were taken during the meeting:

  1. The format of registration for the seller should be simple (Exclude the personal information such as profile picture, address etc.).
  2. Human resource will be trained on the working mechanism of developed mobile app.
  3. All the information of the seller and buyer in the app will be handled by a person (Super Admin).
  4. It is mandatory to have an option in the app through which offline delivery of e-waste is possible.
  5. There must be “Repair” option in the app.
  6. Addition of all e-waste repairing centers in the app.
  7. There must be a link between buyers and e-waste collection centers through offline mode.
  8. Offline delivery of e-waste through mobile app.
  9. Copyright of all app management tools should be done by Gurukul Kangiri University itself.
  10. National level conference will be conducted at UCOST with respect to e-waste minimization and management.
  11. “Privacy policy” document will be reviewed by USOCT and GB Pant Institute of Himalayan Studies under NMHS programme.
  12. Field visit to Rudraprayag will be jointly carried out by UCOST, SPECS and Gurukul Kangiri University tentatively on 23rd April 2022 to filed test of beta-version of app.
  13. Final launch of mobile app is tentatively scheduled on 4th May 2022.
