A virtual project review meeting for the “Establishment of SC/ST Cell at UCOST” project was presided over by Dr. Debapriya Dutta, Scientist G & Head, Science for Equity Empowerment and Development (SEED) Division, Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi, on June 30, 2022. The SEED Division of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi, organized the meeting. At this review meeting, representatives from several Indian states, including Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Mizoram, Punjab, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, also took part. Through a power point presentation, Dr. M. S. Rawat, Scientific Officer at UCOST, gave a briefing on the project’s status and operations under the guidance of Dr D.P. Uniyal, Joint Director, UCOST, Dehradun. DST experts and the chairman offered helpful advice for the project’s successful implementation. At UCOST, SC/ST Cells will be established primarily for mapping (collecting) information on livelihood systems (weakest linkages and strengths), local and indigenous knowledge, and technological information to help develop specific strategies for the development of target beneficiaries and define policies for implementation. Mr. Santosh Rawat, Mr. Gaurav Chamoli, and Mr. Paras Upadhyay were present during the meeting as representatives from UCOST.
