Councils act as an incubator for technology driven projects & programmes & provides a platform for creative interaction among diverse interest groups..
There has been a paradigm shift in the R&D Scenario i.e from basic sciences to applied sciences. The rationale behind this was basically to evolve Scientific research for societal benefits & its development.
As a consequences socio-economic aspect for the research being undertaken gained significance.
In time with this UCOST has also initiated a new Socio Economic Cell for analysing the Socio-Economic impact of the R&D and EDP programmes being funded by UCOST
