Press release – Regional Science Center to open Today
Regional Science Center Inauguration – Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Mahesh Sharma and Chief Minister Harish Rawat will inaugurate a regional science centre here on Wednesday on 3rd of Feb .
The science centre is a part of the Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology (UCOST) campus at Jhajra in Dehradun. The national Council for Science Museums (NCSM) in collaboration with UCOST is developing this regional science centre.
UCOST Director General Dr. Rajendra Dobhal told media persons here today that “The Regional Science Centre is spread in 8.6 acres and also comprises a science park and a science centre building.”
Ge said the science park comprised of a dinosaurs’ park and varied interactive exhibits based on scientific principle while the science centre building comprised of a frontiers of technology gallery, a fun science gallery, a Himalayan gallery, an innovation hub, a 3D theatre, an auditorium of 200 sitting capacity, an exhibition hall of library and a meeting hall.
He said the science centre had a Himalayan gallery and was first of its kind in the country and had various state-of-art exhibits related to the Himalaya.
He sad planetarium Taramandal has a capacity to adjust 20-25 visitors at a time and would provide an opportunity to the visitors to observe the night sky sitting in the dome. Senior UCOST scientist Dr. BP Purohit and Dr. DP uniyal were also present. — Source The Tribune and UCOST Media
