Vigyan Utsav on a theme “Indigenous Technologies ” as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav was organized on 14th Dec, 2021 by UCOST & DST, GoI, New Delhi through online mode. Dr. D.P.Uniyal, Joint Director, UCOST delivered a welcome address and also coordinated the session. Dr Debapriya Dutta, Advisor, DST, GoI, New Delhi gave an inaugural address on up-scaling of indigenous technologies is today’s need. Dr Rajendra Dobhal, Director General UCOST, Dehradun relates our mountain ecosystem to the tradition system of Uttarakhand and their products like natural dyes, Chura Ghee, Chang etc. Dr Kailash N. Bhardwaj, Scientific Officer, UCOST, Dehradun presented their talk on Indigenous Technologies of Uttarakhand on Water mils, Energy Sector, Traditional health system, architecture of houses, Artisans, Food system, Farming etc.  Prof Naveen K. Navani, IIT Roorkee delivered his lecture on Valorization of Indigenous resources through biotechnology. He enlightened on the projects funded by UCOST, Dehradun to IIT Roorkee and their importance. Dr Mahendra Kunwar(HARC), Dr Vinod Bhatt and Shri Dhoom Singh Negi Ji shared their views on Indigenous knowledge and said that it’s documentation is must. Dr Aparna Sharma, Senior Scientific Officer, UCOST gave a vote of thanks to all the speakers and participants. Dr Rashmi Sharma, Scientist E, DST, GoI;  Dr Ravikant Prajapati, Scientist, DST, GoI; Prof H.S.Dhami, VC, Surjmal University; Dr Rajeev K Srivatava, Dr Satyavati Rana, Dr Ranjeeta Kumari, Dr Ashutosh Mishra, Sh Amit Pokhariyal, Scientists, Faculty members, Researchers, Students, UCOST staff etc. were present during the program.
