A brainstorming session on Uttarakhand @25 Adarsh Champawat: Himalayan Ecosystem

A brainstorming session was held on 31 August 2022 at CM Camp Office under the Uttarakhand@25, Adarsh Champawat, Himalayan Ecosystem. There were four technical sessions on Technology and Environment, Water and natural resources, Resource-based Economy and Stakeholder’s perspective. Chief Minister Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami; Principal Scientific Advisor of Prime minister, Prof Ajay Kumar Sood; Chief Secretary Uttarakhand, Shri S. S. Sandhu; Dr parminder Maini, Scientific Secretary PSA, GoI; Dr R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary CM Govt. Of Uttarakhand; Padam Bhusan Dr Anil Prakash Joshi; Dr Durgesh Pant, Director General UCOST, Representatives from ICFRE, IIP, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Planning Department and many other central and state governments were present in the event and showcased their future work plan for the development of Adarsh Uttarakhand.
There were presentations on Space mapping and planning of natural resources of the state, challenges of the Champawat district, Identifying priority areas (agriculture, infrastructure development etc.), Increasing farmer’s income, nutrient security, and Rehabilitation of degrading land through the agriculture-horticulture-silvicultural system, Location-specific water harvesting, Stream rehabilitation, Groundwater recharge, Soil erosion control. Prof Ajay Kumar Sood said that we should select the most effective way and the best model for the development of the Adarsh Champawat district and should create -Hill-centric, state-specific projects. He said Scale-up of technology is important for the development of the state. PSA Office will support Adarsh Champawat’s model. Dr R Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary, Honourable CM and Planning, Government of Uttarakhand said that it is a difficult task to identify the actual backward districts. The next 25 years for India are Amrit Kaal, where we will do Quantum jump only with the help of science and technology intervention.
