A Stakeholders User’s Meet in E-Waste Project held at UCOST, Vigyan Dham on 31st Aug, 2021
A Stakeholders User’s meeting of the project entitled ‘E-Waste Management in Dehradun and Rudraprayag – Realizing the E-Waste to Resource Potential’ was held at Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology (UCOST) on 31st August 2021. In this meeting, various officials from different line departments were present and shared their views about E-Waste management. Dr Rajendra Dobhal (Director General, UCOST & PI, E-Waste Project) welcomed all the participants and shared the basic purpose behind initiating this project. Dr D. P. Uniyal, (Joint Director, UCOST and Co-PI, E-Waste Project) shared the work done by the E-Waste management unit and its objectives. Dr B. M. Sharma (Secretary SPECS and Co-PI, E-Waste Project) delivered a detailed presentation about the project activities and work done by various collection centers. During the meeting, Dr Shwetank (Assistant Professor, Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar) and his team gave a detailed presentation of the Android-based E-Waste Application and he demonstrated the screen recording of the E-Waste application, its features and process of registration, profile screen input & output and expected three types of the home screen for this upcoming E-Waste App. Various success stories of E-Waste were discussed during the meeting. During the meeting, the representatives of all the line departments shared their views about the E-Waste management practices conducted in their respective departments. During the meeting Dr Anjan Ray, Director IIP, Dehradun Chaired the open discussion session and he said that people should be encouraged to register and sharing E-Waste Applications. He said that awareness campaigns should be conducted and E-waste should be categorized according to its value. Dr Manmohan Rawat (Scientific Officer), UCOST delivered the vote of thanks. Shri S. S. Rasaili (APPCF, Forest Department), Shri Pankaj Gupta (Industries Association), Shri Sompal Singh Pollution Control Board, Shri Shailendra from BHEL-PCRI Haridwar and Prof. Bhanu Prakash Vellanki from IIT Roorkee were present and shared their expert views. Representatives of various line departments Nagar Nigam, Nagar Palika, Pollution control board, Industries Association, IIT Roorkee and many other departments, RJ Kaavya, Tanuj Pundir (Sewa International), Dr Ashutosh Mishra, Shri Amit Pokhriyal, Dr B. P. Purohit, Dr Manmohan Rawat, Mr Manoj Kumar Singh and Ms Kanchan Dobhal participated in this meeting.
