Celebration of International Biodiversity Day – UCOST celebrate International Biodiversity Day 2021 through virtual mode on 22nd May, 2021. Theme of this year is “We are Part of the Solution# For Nature” . Dr G.S.Rawat, FNASc, Former Director, Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun was the Keynote speaker of the program. Dr Rajendra dobhal, FNASc, Director General, UCOST, welcome the chief guest and all the participants who had joined online. He gave his tribute to Late. Padma Vibhushan Shri Sundarlal Bahuguna ji for his extra ordinary contribution for himalayan environment. He also told that Shri Bahuguna inaugurated our biodiversity park in 2018 which is situated at Vigyan Dham Jhajra. Prof A.N.Purohit former Vice Chancellor, HNBGU, Srinagar and Prof D K Maheshwari, former Vice Chancellor, Gurukul Kangri Vishvavidyalaya, Haridwar gave their blessings on this occasion. Dr G. S.Rawat delivered a keynote lecture on “Science, Policy and Practice of Biodiversity Conservation in the Context of Uttarakhand: Introspection and Prospection. In his keynote lecture, he focus on the various issues on Himalayan Environment, Ecosystem, floua & fauna of Uttaakhand, CBD, Biodiversity Science, Policies and International Agenda etc. Dr Brijmohan Sharma & Mrs. Mona Bali announced the winners of “Nanhe Vaigyanik” Competitions, which was jointly organized by UCOST, SPECS, NASI UK Chapter and Govt. PG College, Rishikesh on the occasion of National Technology Day-2021 through online presentations. Dr D.P. Uniual, Joint Director, UCOST coordinated the Whole program. Dr Aparna Sharma, SSO, UCOST gave a vote of thanks to the chair and all the participants.
