Nursery Development & Management and Artesian training

Hands on Training Programme on Nursery Development & Management and Artesian training on Ringal (Hill Bamboo) & its value addition

Under the framework of “Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Vigyan Gram Sankul Pariyojana” 3 day’s training programme was organized jointly by Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology and SEED Division, Department of Science & Technology (DST), New Delhi at UCOST from dated 9th to 11th February 2021. Participants from all four clusters Bazira (Rudraprayag), Bhigun (Tehri), Kausani (Bageshwar) and Gaindikhata (Haridwar) were present during the training. The programme was inaugurated in the gracious presence of Dr Rajendra Dobhal, Director General, and Dr D P Uniyal, Joint Director, UCOST.Subject experts from Saraswati Jan Kalyan evamSwarojgarSansthan, Dehradun described aboutvalue addition of Ringal (Hill Bamboo), Ringal handicrafts, Treatment and colouring of ringaland experts from Krishivan Research Centre for Agripreneurship Development & Environment Protection Samiti, Dehradun briefed about nursery technology including medicinal and aromatic plants cultivation and management, Establishment of nurseries, Kiwi nursery development and management, Vermicompost making etc. Dr B P Purohit, Dr Prashant Singh, District Coordinator, UCOST, Dr Piyush Joshi, Senior Scientific Officer, Mr Santosh Rawat, Mr Devendra Singh, Mr Paras Upadhyay along with UCOST staff were present during the training programme. Hands on activity on Nursery bed and compost preparation, Grafting techniques, Ringal product making including Dustbin, Fruit Basket, Lampshade etc. covered during the session. A field visit to a national award winning nursery -Nirmal Nursery,Dharmawala, Sahaspur was also conducted. Manager and owner of the nursery Mr. Nirmaltomar described about the nurseries techniques, important horticultural and medicinal plants in net house and polyhouse, Disease management in nurseries, Control of pest and Diseases and safety precautions etc. The training was ended with the distribution of certificates to the participants.
