IPR Awareness Workshop at THDC Institute of Engineering & Hydropower, Tehri: 22-Nov-2016

IPR Awareness Workshop at THDC Institute of Engineering & Hydropower – A one-day IPR awareness workshop was organized at THDC Institute of Engineering & Hydropower, Tehri on Nov 22, 2016. The workshop entitled “Awareness on Intellectual Property Rights” was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Ashish Bhatgain, Chief Development Officer, Tehri and Prof. G. S Tomar, Director, THDC-IHET, Tehri. The workshop witnessed the presence of Dr. Anju Rawat, Scientist-B,PIC COST, Dehradun, Mr. Himanshu Goel and Ms. Akanksha Chandola as speakers in various IPR topics. The workshop benefited around 200 participants including faculty and students.

Dr. Richa Bijalwan, welcomed the Chief Guest, & other dignitaries and the participants. The inaugural Speech was delivered by Prof. G. S Tomar, Director, THDC-IHET, Tehri.

In his welcome speech, Prof. G.STomar stressed on the need for registering intellectual creations and using IPR’s for the betterment of nation. He explained the importance of IPR protection and how inventions & intellectual creations could help to boost economic and technological developments in the country.

Dr. AnjuRawat, Scientist-B, PIC, UCOST gave an overview of IPR to the participants and explained what are patents, industrial designs, trademarks, trade secrets, geographical indications and plant varieties. She strongly presented her view on the current scenario of IPR and the status of India in terms of innovation and filing of IPR. She urged and motivated students to be innovative and vigilant.

Ms. Akanksha Chandola Anthwal briefed the audience about Patenting System in India major focus on patenting in Engineering related Inventions & innovations and Mr. Himanshu Goel, Project scientist, enlighted the audience about the Integrated Circuits Layout Design, its need, importance & filling and Registration of Industrial Design.

In the thanksgiving speech, Mr. Sameer Verma, the convener explained the triad of creativity, inventiveness and innovation and their linkages with the enhancement of quality of life of the people in general and owners of traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions of the people of hilly area. Mr. Ajay Swaroop, Dr. Sulakshna Sharma, Mr. Praful Rajan, Mr. Nitin Gupta, Dr. Sanjay Rawat were also present at the workshop.
