Vigyan Utsav as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav with a theme “Human Resource Development” was celebrated in joint collaboration of UCOST and DST, GoI, New Delhi on 1st Oct, 2021. Dr D.P.Uniyal, Joint Director, UCOST, Dehradun welcome the Chief guest, keynote speakers and all the participants.  Program was started by the welcome address of Dr Debapriya Dutta, Advisor SEED & SSTP division, DST, GoI, New Delhi. He told about the importance of the program. Dr Dutta said that this is the initiatives in respect to the ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ taken by DST, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Inaugural address was delivered by Prof Sandeep Verma, Secretary, SERB, DST, GoI, New Delhi. He enlightened on the various schemes of SERB division like NCERT initiative, R&D funding mechanism to the various department/institutes etc. Dr Deeksha Gupta, Associate Director, ACS, America gave brief note on the importance of Human Resource Development in India. She also shared her experience about the DST-ACS workshop held at UCOST, Dehradun in the year 2019.  Dr Rajendra Dobhal, Director General, UCOST, Dehradun delivered a keynote lecture on “Human Resource Capacity Building- Council’s Initiatives”. He told about the programs running under the aegis of council and no. of beneficiaries from each programs. Prof Ajeet K. Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee gave a presentation on “Requirement of Human Resource Development in Engineering Sector and Opportunities in Uttarakhand”. He also focuses on the collaboration of UCOST & IIT Roorkee. Dr H.S.Baweja, Director, Horticulture and Food Processing, Uttarakhand gave a lecture on “Requirement of Human Resource Development in  Agricultural Entrepreneurship in Uttarakhand”. Dr Divya Uniyal, Director, UGC-HRDC, KU Nainital delivered a lecture on “Role of Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) in Higher Education to cater the need of the State”. Dr V.P.Uniyal, Scientist-G, WII, Dehradun gave his presentation on “Requirement of Human Resource Development in Forestry Sector in Uttarakhand”. In the concluding session Prof Ranjana Pathania, Dr Deepak Pant, Dr Deep Chand Joshi and various Science Congress & Inspire awardees shared their views on council’s support. Dr. D.P.Uniyal delivered a vote of thanks to all the speakers and participants on behalf of UCOST, Dehradun. More than 100 participants joined the program virtually.   Dr Rashmi Sharma, Scientist E, DST, GoI, New Delhi and Dr Ravikant Prajapati, Scientist DST, GoI, New Delhi were also present during the program.
