Celebration of Science Literature Festival under theme Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate on 26th Feb ,2022 at Vigyan Dham
The fifth day of the week-long festival of Science and Technology, Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate was grandly celebrated as a “Science literature festival” at the Regional Science Centre, UCOST, Dehradun. Dr D. P. Uniyal, Joint Director UCOST started the session with his welcome address. In his address, he motivated the students and talked about science popularization and the importance of science and literature. Dr Brijmohan Sharma, SPECS, Dehradun, Shri Abhimanyu Gahlot, Owner, M/s Bishen Singh Mahendra Pal Singh and RJ Kavya, Oho Radio, Dehradun were present in this session. Shri Abhimanyu Gahlot gave an introductory speech on the status and scope of publication in India in the field of science and technology. He also talked about the role of Technology in scientific writing and gave insights about the importance of publication in peer review journals, reputed journals with impact factors. In his interactive session, he motivates students to select the publication sector as one of their career choices. Dr B M Sharma shares his experiences with the students and emphasizes using science to improve the quality of life. He also educates students about adulteration in various items like milk, salt, pulses, sanitiser, etc., and tells them how to check these adulterations with basic science methods at home. RJ Kavya shared his success story with the students. He also told students about the importance of communication and motivated them to polish their skills. The session was followed by a science-based skit presented by RSC and UCOST Staff. The motive of the skit was to spread the word about scientific temper. Other activities like Rangoli Making Competition were also conducted. In the Rangoli competition students from Dehradun Institute of Technology, Doon Institute of Engineering and Technology [DIET], Dehradun, Kendriya Vidyalaya ONGC Dehradun, and GRD Academy, Dehradun participated. Lastly, a demonstration activity was performed by the SPECS team to make organic colours from vegetables, flowers and fruits. They discussed the side effects of using market-sold synthetic colours. The coverage of today’s session was done by the Doordarshan, Uttarakhand and Oho Radio teams. The session was coordinated by Ms Kanchan Dobhal, UCOST. Dr Kailash N Bhardwaj, Scientific officer, UCOST gave a vote of thanks to all the speakers and participants. In this Program, Dr D. P. Uniyal, Joint Director UCOST, Dr B. P. Purohit, Dr Ashutosh Mishra, Er. Jitendra, Shri Amit Pokhriyal, Dr Aparna Sharma, UCOST, UCOST Staff, Staff of Biotech Council and students from various colleges, Col.Bharat Prakash and Anita Prakash were present. More than 300 officials, scientists, faculty members, researchers, students, UCOST, RSC & UCB staff participated in the programme through hybrid mode.
