2nd Day of a week-long festival of Science and Technology “Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate” 

23 February 2022, the second day of the week-long festival of Science and Technology, Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate was celebrated under the theme “From the Annals of History of Science” at the Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology (UCOST), Dehradun. The event was started by the welcome address of Dr D.P. Uniyal, Joint Director, UCOST. He welcomed the students, guests, officials and enlightened the students about the objective of celebrating the science festival. He also emphasized the importance of reading scientific magazines, books, publications etc. The session was continued by the lecture of Dr C.M. Nautiyal, Scientist, Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, Lucknow and Shri G.S. Rautela, Advisor, Science City, Dehradun. Dr Nautiyal delivered a lecture on the History of science after independence. In his lecture, he told the students about the scientific achievements of India after independence in the field of space science, nuclear energy, agriculture and dairy sector and healthcare. Shri. Rautela in his lecture shares a glimpse of the glorious past of India in the field of science and technology. He informed the students about the ancient scientific discoveries in the field of astronomy, medicine, mathematics, water harvesting, metallurgy, etc. The session was continued by the screening of the film entitled “Vigyan Prasar Ki Yatra.” Other activities like quiz Competitions and Science Fun activities (Hands-on) were also conducted for the students from Dolphin Institute, Tula Institute and Alpine institute. Dolphin Institute won the prize for the quiz competition.  In the science activity, different fun experiments based on different principles of science were shown by Ankit Kandiyal, the RSC team. In this Program Dr Rajendra Dobhal, Director General, UCOST, Dr D. P. Uniyal, Joint Director UCOST, Shri G. S. Rautela, Dr B. P. Purohit, Dr Aparna Sharma, Dr Ashutosh Mishra, Er. Jitendra, Shri Amit Pokhriya, Dr Piyush Joshi, UCOST Staff, Staff of Biotech Council and students from various colleges were present. The session was coordinated by Ms Kanchan Dobhal, UCOST. Dr Kailash N Bhardwaj, Scientific officer, UCOST gave a vote of thanks to all the speakers and participants. More than 250 officials, scientists, faculty members, researchers, students, participated in the programme through hybrid mode.
