Council organized Vigyan Utsav on a theme “Science Communication & Popularization” as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on 16th Feb, 2022 in collaboration with DST, GoI, New Delhi through online mode. Dr Aparna Sharma, Senior Scientific Officer, UCOST delivered a welcome address and also coordinated the session. In the inaugural address, Dr Debapriya Dutta, Advisor, SEED Deviosn, DST, GoI, New Delhi emphasized on the interrelationship of Science Communication & its popularization for the common masses. He told that SCP is an important aspects in respect of Innovation and Aatma Nirbhar Bharat.  Dr Rajendra Dobhal, Director General UCOST, Dehradun told that the Science Communicator like Prof Yashpal made a milestone in the field of science communication. He suggested for making a pool of science communicators and their orientations with the help of DST, GoI, New Delhi. Dr D.P. Uniyal, Joint Director, UCOST, Dehradun presented their talk on “Science Popularization: perspective of Uttarakhand”. He shed light on the council’s Science popularization activities and Network of UCOST throughout the state in respect of science communication.  In the keynote address, Shri G.S.Rautela, Advisor Science City, Dehradun shed light on the network of Science Centers and Science Cities across the country. He told about the traditional as well as Non-traditional methods of science communication with the help of examples. Dr Brijmohan Sharma, Secretary, Specs, Dehradun told about the science communication for a quality life. He also focuses on Science for All.  Dr Pratul Joshi, State In-Charge, AIR Almora said that Akashwani is a powerful tool for Science Communication; we have to maximize the use of Akashwani. Shri Vinay Kumar Gupta, Former Executive Director, ONGC  shed light on efforts of ONGC on Science Communication through its CSR & Oil Museum in Dehradun. Dr Hemwati Nanadan, Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar encouraged the students for the scientific writing. The INSPIRE & NCSC awardees Mr Vinay Joshi, Ms Kunti Verma and Mr Harsh Sumrav shared their experience about Science Commutation in the state.  Dr Kailash N. Bhardwaj, I/C RSC, Dehradun gave a vote of thanks to all the speakers and participants. Dr Rashmi Sharma, Scientist E, DST, GoI;  Dr Ravikant Prajapati, Scientist, DST, GoI;  and other Scientists, Faculty members, Researchers, Students, UCOST & RSC staff etc. were present during the program.
