Career Development for Women in Science – One Day Workshop on Leadership and Career Development for Women in Science was organized at UCOST on 27th OCT, 2017. Dr. Savita, Director, FRI, Dehradun & VC, FRI Deemed University, Dehradun was the Chief Guest of the Inaugural Session. Prof. Geraldine Richmond, University of Oregon, USA and Prof. Pushpalatha Murthy, Michigan Tech. University, USA were the Keynote Speaker of the Program. Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, DG UCOST welcomed all the guest and Female participants from various Universities & Institutions of Uttarakhand. Dr. Kirti Joshi, Scientific Officer, UCOST coordinated the program and Dr. Ajeet Kaur, Sr. Scientist, CoE, UCOST gave a formal vote of thanks to all the dignitaries & participants. The workhsop is started with a theme that the Empowerment and participation of women in development programmes is considered essential for sustainable development. In India, a constant encouragement through various government initiatives and efforts by different national / international institutions started yielding results. More and more women are taking up professional jobs of high caliber. Women are to take on leadership roles every day, in the classroom, in their department or institution and in their professional organizations. Regular training programs specially designed for women to cope up with their new role and discharge their responsibilities more effectively is desirable.
