UCOST and MPCOST organised online Vigyan Manthan Yatra on 24 February 2022

Madhya Pradesh Council for Science & Technology (MPCOST) organizes Vigyan Manthan Yatra under its Mission excellence program, to expose meritorious school students to ongoing research and development activities in various S&T institutions in India. The aim of this Vigyan Manthan Yatra is to promote excellence, Innovation, Awareness about Science, Entrepreneurship and Skill Development. Every year group of meritorious students of Madhya Pradesh come to Uttarakhand under Vigyan Manthan Yatra and visit R&D institutions and interact with scientists there but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the group could not make it to visit Uttarakhand. On 24 February 2022 Scientists of the Uttarakhand Council for Science and Technology delivered online lectures and interact with students. Dr D P Uniyal addressed the students and said that this program was initiated with the theme to know your scientist. He briefed about Councils programs of science popularization and facilitation programs. He said that students should develop hobbies like reading science journals, literature and hobbies which connect them with nature.  He talked about, the Himalayan gallery, biodiversity, climate change and many other scientific topics. Shri G. S. Rautela advisor of science city Dehradun delivered a lecture about misconceptions in Science. Dr Ashutosh Mishra, Senior Scientific Officer, UCOST talked about forests and its importance. Dr Aparna Sharma, Senior Scientific Officer, UCOST talked about new technologies and research in the field of science and technology. Dr K.N. Bhardwaj, Scientific Officer, UCOST told about the microbes.  Shri Amit Pokhriyal proposed a formal vote of thanks. In this event staff of Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology, staff of Biotech Council and more than 200 students were present through online and offline mode. Dr Piyush Joshi, Senior Scientific Officer, UCOST coordinated the session.
